Character Sculpture 3
Character and Creature Head Sculpture
Great character and creature sculptures are created when an artist effectively develops ideas from conceptualization to completion. This developmental sequence includes research, refinements and then finally executions of a finished living, breathing, concrete, and distinct being. With over 60 hours of fundamental sculpture training preceding this class, Sculpture 3 focuses on the development of a conceptual piece through the creation of a life-sized character or creature bust. Students will learn how to correctly research and develop their ideas though multiple stages. These include the creation of a character's back story, character ideation sketches, roughing out a quarter life maquette and finally to sculpting a life size version.
Students will also share and critique each other's concepts in an open class forum for the betterment of their projects. This is a traditional portfolio building class.
