Character Sculpture: Maquettes
Expand Your Understanding of True 3D Form
Knowledge of the traditional aspects of sculpture and character design will only enhance your understanding and comprehension when modeling characters in Maya. With clay models being digitized more often, the skills learned in this course offer the student more traditional options when designing and implementing characters into the 3D workspace. Understanding the workflow when creating a sculpture is essential to the designer.
This course uses a rudimentary approach to advanced techniques for establishing form and function. Beginning with learning how to design a character, this course teaches armature construction, dynamic and neutral posing, then concentrates heavily on primary and secondary form. Once established, students learn how to detail sculptures with skin texture, wrinkles, scales, etc. Finally, students learn how to polish sculptures to a professional finish using a variety of techniques.
