Cinematography for Visual Effects
Relating Traditional Cinematography to Visual Effects
This course breaks down and examines the relationships between traditional cinematography, visual effects, and CG animation. A range of technical concepts and their practical applications is covered in a lecture-based format with opportunity for discussion. Topics covered include: dynamic range, color temperature, green/blue ccreens, depth-of-field, digital video, film formats, match-moving, motion control, film-to-digital and digital-to-film transfers, matte painting, stock footage, Telecine, perspective, miniatures and models, rough and final layout, concept and key art, lighting and compositing concepts, digital storyboarding.
