Visual Communications 1
Value, Shade, Shadow, Perspective, and Composition
Communicating form and motion through a 2D medium lies at the foundation of any art form. Even computer graphics, which is as close as we can get to real 3D, relies on the foundation we call visual communication. Students learn to recognize and effectively utilize forms to communicate their ideas, regardless of the complexity of the subject matter. The course begins with fast, monochromatic sketches of primitives and other basic objects to develop design communication skills. Time is spent on value, shade, shadow, perspective and composition. The course ends with a final project of the student's choice.
