Visual Structure
Delve into the Psychology of Images
Created for those interested in a better understanding of script/story analysis and interpretation as it applies to the entertainment industry where the ultimate yield is a visual image. This is a drawing-intensive course with a fair amount of reading. Lessons dissect "story" not only to visualize, but also to discuss personal and cultural perspectives as they apply to interpretation. Delve into the psychology of images and how we react to them, the appropriateness and inappropriateness of 'cliché', how moods are manipulated by color and lighting and various other techniques used in conveying a story. Guest speakers and a field trip or two add dimension to the subjects covered. Students are graded heavily on course involvement and constructive participation.
